One of the most common questions I get asked from my clients is what’s best to eat for breakfast when you’re trying to lose weight. My answer will always be to preference proteins and fats only in your first meal of the day. In reality however when purely looking at fat loss it makes no difference.
Let me explain…
When you’re looking to lose weight you need to ensure you are in a calorie deficit as the number one priority when it comes to food. Therefore in theory when you’re just looking at losing weight what you eat in the morning doesn’t make a difference providing you still hit your calorie goal for the day as whole.
So why do I recommend protein and fat only for breakfast?
You ideally want to spread your protein throughout the day so you get better absorption and recovery.
Protein and fats are much more likely to keep you fuller for longer.

More balanced blood sugar
Saving carbohydrates – Evening meals tend to be very carbohydrate heavy. This can be problematic when you’re trying to lose weight. If you don’t have any carbohydrates in your first meal of the day you will have more left over to have with your evening meal.
I would highly recommend giving it a try for one week and seeing how much better you feel!
